Beam Breakers is an arcade racing game that takes the idea to the next level and provides you with a chance to finally drive one of these floating cars. Not only that, but you can also push them to their limits and tackle the challenge of navigating traffic during the rush hour, all while accomplishing a variety of missions as well. Hence, adrenaline is guaranteed to pile up on a regular basis.

To start off with, the game provides you with a decent amount of modes to choose from, depending on what you feel like doing. As such, you can begin by undertaking the tutorial scenarios in order to learn how to properly control the vehicles, as well as to find out more about certain types of objectives. Then, you are free to try out individual missions, enroll in championships, or prove your worth in survival races.

Gameplay-wise, the cars are pretty simple to steer and keep under control, although you might need a short adjustment period to get acquainted with the physics. The races are about as straightforward as they can be, since the winner is the first one to pass the finish line. There are power-ups you can pick up along the way, while the tracks are pretty much open to interpretation and you can theoretically take any route you want.

From a technical point of view, the game looks decent and you can really get into the mood once you are out on the laser highways. On the rush hour setting, there are hundreds of vehicles clogging the skies, which makes it that much more difficult for you to avoid taking some damage. As far as the sound department is concerned, nothing stands out or attracts too much attention, so even if it’s not memorable, at least you won’t be annoyed by it.

All things considered, Beam Breakers is at least different from everything else that’s out there. It may not be revolutionary and it may get rather repetitive after a while, but it’s something you can go back to every once in a while to enjoy. Hence, if you are up for some speed and heavy traffic, this might as well be the game for you.
