Regardless of how far gaming goes, no one can ever forget the classics that pioneered the industry, and as such many games are still made in the good old retro style of the 80s and 90s. Such would be the case with Project Elysis, a top-down, pixel-art, action-adventure game where you are a simple adventurer set out on a quest to kill monsters and collect loot.

When you first read that the game uses a 2D pixel-art visual style, "beautiful" may not be the first word to come to your mind,e specially if you are younger and didn't grow up in a time when pretty much all games were like that. The game is indeed made to be visually beautiful, having an almost "Stardew Valley" feel to it, and the smooth movements also make the game feel even more easier to control.

The game doesn't seem to have any quests at all, but when you see that there are a lot of monsters out there, and they instinctively attack when you get close, you can pretty much figure out which is your next best course of action. Monsters come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they will drop loot, or guard chests that have loot, and you will be able to use the loot to get better at killing the monsters, with some weapons being far more effective against certain foes than others.

Project Elysis is a neat take on the good old top-down RPG genre, and the graphics will surely bring back some nostalgia in the hearts of anyone who grew up in a time when the game's visuals were the general norm.
