MiniDoom 2

Few shooter games have impacted the gaming community as much as the DOOM series has, and such you shouldn't be surprised to find fan-made games that pay homage to the series. One good example is Mini Doom 2, a side-scroller and platformer hybrid that gives you a whole new perspective on the Doom game franchise.

Mini Doom II is meant to be a homage to the Doom series above all else, as it chooses to make you face opponents from pretty much all entries, not just one particular title. More so, you gain access to all the destructive weapons you did in Doom (including your favorite BFG) so that you can release pixelated mayhem upon all those who would oppose you.

Because you can't go around killing things without a reason, Mini Doom 2 features a similar plot as the original game, with hellish creatures from another dimension coming to kill us all, and only one man stands between them and us. Of course, everything is wrapped up in neatly designed 8-bit graphics that are themselves a homage to the arcade games of the 80s and 90s. Those of you who grew up with the original FPS will probably feel some degree of nostalgia trying this title, and that is understandable.

Mini-Doom slayer is quick to react, being able to shoot up, down and to the sides, while also dashing and ducking to avoid enemy fire. The game is made to be so smooth as far as the controls are concerned that in the end, actual skill is what will mean the difference between downing a boss or not, and not the weapon you may have at the time.

Regardless of whether you want to fire precise lasers, or scatter the room with buckshot, the way you save the world is solely up to you, and you'll have a hell of a time doing it.
