Crab Dream

Sometimes games don't need intricate stories or at least believable ones in order to justify their existence, as sometimes the wackiest and most random of premises are enough to make a game worth playing. That would be the case with Crab Dream, a neat 3D platformer where you play as a crab on the lookout for some ink in order to fill his pen so he can finish his book.

When they first conceived the game, their intention was probably never to make a title that would be taken seriously, but instead they managed to make a game where half the time you'd think to yourself "this is cute". The crab carries his little pencil all cheerful, waiting to find a squid so it can get some ink, and if you leave him idly, he will even start dancing in an even cuter manner. All you have to do is hunt down squids, and a quick tap on them with your pen will be enough to make them disappear in a cloud of ink, ink which you can use to fill your pen.

Down to the very core, Crab Dream is a platformer, and as such puts heavy emphasis on how you position yourself on the various platforms in order to move forward. You don't have an HP bar, so you don't have to worry about taking any damage, but the effects of being attacked (some squids will spit ink or jets of water at you) are quite annoying as they will usually knock you back. The crab can also can hang itself on the edge of platforms, and jump an even greater distance from that point, making careful positioning extremely useful if you want to jump between ledges that are very far away from each other.

If you love playing but have wrapping your head around serious topics or epic storylines, then a game like Crab Dream is exactly what you need.
