Desert Owl Games, the original creator of the massively multiplayer online tactical game PoxNora, has announced that it has taken back control of the game from Sony Online Entertainment after months of planning.

PoxNora is a free-to-play collectible digital miniatures game that was initially launched in 2006, created by many of the same people who still work at Desert Owl Games today, including the studio's three founding members.

Sony Online Entertainment confirmed that Desert Owl Games acquired PoxNora last month, in a transition that has been in the planning phase for months, but the financial details of the transfer have not been revealed yet.

Players who want to transfer their accounts to the Desert Owl Games servers can visit Sony's transfer page to do so, after which they will be able to access their PoxNora ID, collection, and play history.

"It's unprecedented to have a big game studio return a title to the original creators. Sony Online Entertainment could have easily gone the more common route: stopped producing content and letting PoxNora fade away. Instead, they chose to do what is best for the players! It's amazing, and we are so excited to continue to support such a great game," CEO of Desert Owl Games Art Griffith commented on the matter.
