Nippon Ichi Software has released some new screenshots from Mugen Souls Z, the upcoming role-playing game sequel from developer Compile Heart that's heading for PlayStation 3 consoles in the west in May.

The forthcoming game shows the unfolding of the events that take place after the end of the first game, following Syrma, a goddess who meets Mugen Souls' Chou-Chou right before the original game's story concludes.

Syrma is on a quest to stop an ancient threat to her world, one that has recently awakened and threatens to destroy all she holds dear.

The game will feature insane numbers that will most likely make calculus buffs out of all its players, as it has billions of points of damage in store, along with player level caps of 9,999 and giant mecha, just to name a few.

Mugen Souls Z will present unique turn-based combat with massive customization options and will allow players to roam freely on a lush, open-battle map.

Due to the sensitive nature of some of the content in the game, NIS America has decided to edit certain aspects in the western versions of the title.

Mugen Souls Z is currently scheduled for release in North America on May 20 and in Europe on May 23, for the PlayStation 3 home entertainment system from Sony.
