| Nexuiz has lots of nice lightning effects, but lacks on good maps, models and netcode. Sorry, but menus in 1.5 are ugly.
Comapare it with WARSOW - this 30 mb size online fps is polished to perfection - http://www.warsow.net/ |

| Its amazing what people do with such old graphics engines.
The readme in the program says its based off the Quake1 engine. I was in disbelief. There are great visuals, and considering its the Quake 1 engine it makes it all the more impressive.
The audio is pretty decent. The music is alright, but I'm not a big music person in my FPS games. I always turn it off.
The game is very basic, which is what it strives to be. Jump, crouch and shoot. Thats about it. Its good enough for me. No alt fire though...would have liked that.
Its purely a multiplayer game, though you can create your own server and play around the maps yourself. At the time of review there about 30 some servers, and maybe a total of 5 players. That is not good at all. The servers are there, the players are not.
There is a lot of customization of the game in the options, which is very nice...especially the video.
The most amazing thing is that at 1280x1024 in a game that is using the Quake 1 engine, I was only getting 40 FPS with my ATi Radoen Mobility 9700 128MB.
It says in the readme that the min requirements for high graphics quality is a Radeon 9600...(my Radeon Mobility 9700 is based off the 9600 core)...so that is about right.
But wow, i mean...it seems like Halo, where you need a GF6600 to get more than 50fps...lol.
I only give it 4/5 because no one plays it...5 players online? are you kidding me? 5 players for a multiplayer-only game. |
