| When you think of this game, think...Couterstrike meets Battlefield (1942, Vietnam or 2). It has that Battlefield element of conquering bases and respawn tickets, however the gameplay seems faintly similar to Counterstrike rather than Battlefield 1942 or 2. I played one map online and didn't find any vehicles...so...
The game is completely online based...there is no single player element. And to get access to play online you have to sign up for a free user account over at the homepage, http://www.warrock.net/.
When you open the game and goto online play, you are asked for your account login and pass, which should work instantly.
You get a game browser SIMILAR to the one you can find in Battlefield 1942 or the sort...however I really can't say if its any better or worse...its hard to judge. Personally I just would rather to stick with GameSpy or QTracker before I use any in-game browser.
The graphics are fair at best. Considering the basis of this game, you can find 2 or 3 games exactly like it which have better graphics...Battlefield 2, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, CounterStrike Source, America's Army, UT2004, etc.
The gameplay is alright. I found myself feeling like I was playing CS rather than the battlefield series, and since I hate the CS gameplay I wasn't very happy.
There is a good multiplayer community online so it shouldn't be too hard to get in on a populated server.
The only major negative (outside of the graphics) is that the game is like in permanent beta right now...no one knows when it will come out of beta. When it does, it will not be free anymore, and based on how the connection to the master server works, i.e. similar to UT2004 requiring a working cdkey or account, there will be no way around paying for it.
Its a decent free FPS game. So give it a try while its still free. |
