Quake II Demo
Survive the Strogg onslaught as you try to escape the alien planet in this sequel for the legendary first-person shooter. #Quake war #First-person shooter #Id software #Quake #Strogg #Alien
Quake was the kind of game that redefined the genre and set the standards when it comes to first-person shooters, especially in multiplayer. The storyline is nothing out of a novel, while the characters are forgettable and easily interchangeable. However, the smooth first-person perspective, the accurate weapons, and the action-packed multiplayer sessions are much more difficult to forget, even of the game came out almost two decades ago.
Quake II simply took what was already there to begin with and polished it as much as possible, in order to provide the players with the same experience and a whole new story at the same time. Hence, even if some of the weapons have been removed and new functions have been added, those who played the first title should be quite at home in the sequel as well.
To begin with, the story revolves around a soldier named Bitterman, who finds himself on his own after his ship crashes on a Strogg-infested planet. Obviously he must survive the constant attacks from the vicious aliens and try to find a way to be rescued, although that’s easier said than done. Not only that, but he must also accomplish the mission objective alone, which is to kill Makron, the greatest Strogg there is.
Although some of the guns have been removed in the sequel, new ones have been added to make up for it. Hence, you can now enjoy the rapid fire rate of the machine gun, or simply obliterate everything around you using the railgun. Not only that, but a variety of new power-ups are available as well, beside the ones that grant you invincibility, or silenced weapons.
The A.I. enjoys some improvements too, which means that the enemies are much more creative when it comes to avoiding your bullets. They can still be figured out quite quickly, but that doesn’t mean the challenge isn’t there. The boss fights are quite tough as well, sometimes even more so than they were back in the original release.
Although Quake II may not be as original as the first part was, nor as popular as the third part turned out to be, it is still a strong title on its own. Hence, if you are in the mood for an old-school first-person shooter, with aliens and ludicrous weapons, then this is definitely a good choice.
