The struggle between good and evil has been discussed by philosophers, priests and common people over the centuries, but the common consensus is that it will go on for a while until there's a clear winner. The concept has been modified, transposed and used in a variety of stories and myths, as well as present-day creations like books, movies and video games.
Infernal is a third-person shooter that takes its roots from the same conundrum, by featuring a fallen angel by the name of Ryan Lennox as the main character played by you. After receiving a mission from the devil, he's attempting to restore the balance between good and evil by completing a variety of quests all over the world, as well as killing many people in the process.
The interesting part, however, is the fact that he possesses many supernatural powers that can be used during combat, including telekinesis and teleportation. In case things get too risky, you also have the possibility to consume human souls, in order to restore your vitality and carry on your mission. Naturally, this makes the gameplay very fun and entertaining, at least until you get bored with flinging NPCs around the map.
Because the missions take you all over the world, you get to admire and destroy a wide variety of cities and locations, including caves and catacombs. Speaking of which, the game uses a very potent and high-end physics engine to simulate the environment, which in turn allows you to basically demolish almost everything that gets in your way, including walls.
Visually, there are very few bad things to say about the graphics engine, since it does a very good job at portraying the landscapes and the character animations are very smooth as well. The special effects department was not overlooked either and it features everything from motion blur, to bloom and various other gimmicks that fool the eye and make the environments look better.
In the end, Infernal proves to be a mediocre experience, mainly because it is very linear and the action sequences have a tendency to repeat themselves quite often. Moreover, the storyline is very dull and unimaginative, while the characters lack depth and charisma.
