Danny Phantom: Ghost Frenzy

Video games are often inspired by television shows and stick closely to the original characters and story. Danny Phantom: Ghost Frenzy is a match three game that enables you to control Daniel Fenton, half-boy half-ghost, and stop the ghost invasion.

The story is the same as the one from the franchise. You are a 14-year-old boy who suffered from a lab accident and became infused with ectoplasm, turning into half-ghost. You must protect your town and its citizens from the pesky ghosts.

The gameplay is straightforward. Using your mouse, you must fire the Ghost Ray and zap the enemies. You must match at least three ghosts of the same color to make them disappear and stop the impending lines.

The game is divided into multiple sets of levels. There is an instruction menu that helps you to discover the controls. The pressure increases towards the end of the set, where you must eliminate super ghosts by zapping them multiple times. The speed is also increased and there are levels with multiple lines of ghosts that come from different directions. However, there are numerous power-ups to cut down the enemies numbers, allowing you breathing time.

The graphics are not bad for this particular type of game. The image rendering is done correctly. The background imagery changes with each level and Danny Phantom has a beautiful animation in which he turns from boy to phantom and floats to the center. An interesting feature is the color blind mode, which displays the ghosts in different tones to help players with visual impairment.

To summarize, Danny Phantom: Ghost Frenzy is a fun game to play. It is not very demanding in terms of difficulty, and the visuals are pleasing to the eye.  You can enjoy the full game after you purchase it, but it is worth a try.
