Tumblebugs 2 may not look like much at a first glance, but usually that first glance can span across a few hours and you soon realize that you judge the entire world based on whether you can match three colors to get more points. Thus, thanks to the incredible number of levels and different mechanics that are revealed as you advance through them, the chances for you to stop playing too soon are pretty dim.

The way the game works is quite simple, but effective: the bugs are in rows and they are pushed in one direction or the other. Your task is to throw other bugs at them and match three or more with the same color, while obviously trying not to miss and scramble the colors. Naturally, there are countless power-ups and combos that can be achieved if you manage to do this and that, all of which are revealed across the levels.

Speaking of which, there are 90 levels to go through, some of which are quite complicated and cannot be beaten that easily. Hence, the game can keep you hooked for hours and you can always replay them, since there are two difficulty levels available and the highscores can always be beaten, regardless of how well you think you fared. The environments of these levels vary drastically and you can find yourself on a peaceful pond, a field filled with flowers, or even on someone's kitchen table.

Whenever you beat a level, you can also go through some special events, which usually have a time limit and their purpose is to give you the chance to make as many points as you can, by collecting rings or rapidly matching colors using special bugs. Although you are not penalized if you do not do that well, you obviously lose the chance for some easy points, which should be the perfect incentive.

Graphically speaking, the game looks as you would expect it to look, with bright colors and funny-looking characters. Whenever you achieve a better combo, pretty sparkles and fireworks cover the screen, while your bug always has a cheer on its face. The background music goes by unnoticed most of the time, but when you do hear it, it is relaxing and cheerful as well, to go with the overall atmosphere.

In the end, Tumblebugs 2 is the type of game that keeps you playing for hours at end and brings back the old saying: “Just one more level”. Hence, whenever you have some to spare, you can fire it up and have some fun with bugs, for a change.
