Steel Tide Demo
A submarine simulator that puts you in command of your own underwater killing machine. #Steel tide #Control submarine #Command submarine #Steel #Tide #Submarine
Submarines may not be the most exciting war machines out there, but they are very mysterious and intriguing, considering the fact that they can spend a lot of time underwater and explore dark places throughout the world's oceans. However, they are also potent killing machines, with powerful weapons on board that have the ability to bring down both ground targets and floating ships.
Steel Tide is a simulator that allows you to experience the thrill of having an entire submarine under your control, while also being able to make full use of its arsenal to wage destruction upon anything that stands in your way. Moreover, you also get to remain hidden and strike your targets unseen, although there are very slim chances for you to survive if you do get found and hit by enemy weapons.
The game also has a story to make matters more interesting and give you a few explanations regarding the action that takes place on the screen. Hence, you happen to be the commander of the R.M.S Triumphant and your submarine gets separated from its fleet during a vicious attack. Without any idea regarding your current location and enemies lurking all around you, it all resumes to being able to stay alive and destroying everything that attempts to harm you.
Although most of the danger comes from other ships and submarines that are patrolling the waters, there are plenty of ground weapons that can get you into a lot of trouble, especially if you expose your ship and give away your location. Despite that, your submarine is also capable of striking targets that are on the ground, which allows you to get rid of various artillery setups and avoid getting destroyed in the process.
Visually, the graphics engine cannot render jaw-dropping environments and detailed ships, but it handles itself rather well and you can at least make out the different objects on the screen. Hence, despite the poor texturing and the not-at-all impressive water physics, the user interface is very nicely done and it provides you with something pretty to look at whenever you want to ignore the lackluster 3D models.
The original setting is what makes Steel Tide a bearable title, because nothing else really shines about it, especially since the gameplay mechanics are not at all realistic and the ocean itself is too small to create the proper atmosphere. Thus, you can definitely have a bit of fun with the game, but do not expect to make any memories while doing so.
