It is a given that people want to shoot guns and frag as many enemies as possible, so multiplayer shooters are here to stay. However, the crowd is rather picky and it is difficult to make a name for yourself in the industry nowadays, especially when the gamers can choose between titles like Call of Duty, Battlefield, or a variety of other triple-A games developed by serious studios.
Operation 7 is an online shooter with gameplay mechanics borrowed from Counter-Strike and Call of Duty, which features an experience system for your character and the option to pay real money for in-game rewards. While this is not necessarily a bad business practice, the game itself must be worth the bother to do so, not to mention the fact that the purchases must not provide the players with unfair advantages.
The game plays very much like a B class shooter, in the sense that everything is mediocre, and the shooting feels incredibly awkward. Once you enter a match, you realize that the maps are too small and badly designed to be any fun. On top of that, it means that the players can easily wait for the enemies at their spawn point and slaughter them without the chance to retaliate. Certainly, the players have a fault as well, but the game gave them the opportunity in the first place.
Wherever you look, bugs and badly optimized components stare back at you. As an example, the tutorial is nothing but a series of gun stations where you have to use one of the weapons in order to shoot some targets. However, if you take one step back from the exact spot you are meant to stay on, the tutorial resets and you have to take it from the top. This is mighty annoying, especially in a shooter, where you constantly move around to stay alert.
However, it’s the fact that you can pay money to gain unfair advantages that breaks the game entirely. Hence, it is possible to purchase powerful weapons using real money, which obviously grant you more damage and better accuracy. Sure, you can also slowly gather gold by playing for a long time, but it’s difficult to do so when everyone else paid and gives you no chance to have fun.
All things considered, there are just too many flaws and mistakes in Operation 7 to be worth the effort of installing. Instead, you can choose one of the well-known alternatives and forget all about this tasteless clone developed by amateurs.
