Monopoly is a board game that never gets old or boring, mainly due to the fact that no two matches are every the same. The sheer number of options and strategies that can be employed by the players is tremendous, especially when at least four or more people are playing at the same time, since the competition gets tighter.

Monopoly Tycoon takes the standard board game and transforms it into something a bit more interesting, by adding a few new gimmicks and getting rid of some old ones. Thus, the map on which the action takes place is only based on the original, but it is modified to include a few more businesses and it also has a different overall layout.

Before the game begins, each player gets the chance to choose his or her character, by selecting one from the list of the available options. Although the names and the tokens are basically the same as in the classical Monopoly, such as Battleship, Top Hat and Wheelbarrow, the players can choose to rename them as they see fit, but keep the token model and its color, in order to distinguish themselves from each other.

Just like in the original version, there are a variety of blocks that can be bought out on the map and the players must auction for them in order to become the owners. Once they do that, the properties can be rented out to local businesses and the players can collect the rent the businesses are required to pay. When someone holds all the blocks with the same color, they can build hotels and charge the customers a certain amount of money.

Graphically speaking, there the game looks as colorful as you might imagine, since that is the way streets and players are differentiated from one another. The buildings, people and the cars that populate the city are quite detailed as well and it is a real pleasure to see the streets of the famous Monopoly finally rendered in 3D.

In the end, Monopoly Tycoon manages to come up with a very interesting combination of strategy and the beloved board game mechanics, which translates into countless hours of fun with your friends over the Internet.
