FEAR 2: Project Origin

Given the success of F.E.A.R. and it's two expansion packs: Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, it's quite hard to create a sequel, but the guys over at Monolith productions decided to give it a go.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a first-person shooter game with deep horror elements where you will have to fight both human and supernatural enemies in order to save the world from destruction.

This time around players will take on the role of Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator, who is sent to arrest Genevieve Aristide, but  is knocked unconscious when the Origin Facility explodes. Aristide performs a series of experiments and tells Michael Becket he's the only chance they have of stopping Alma.

He will have to escape an underground hospital while fighting ATC troops and later in the game Replica forces. Moreover, Alma is constantly challenging Becket trying to absorb him, physically.

Modern weaponry and better graphics await you in F.E.A.R. 2

The game uses the same engine as F.E.A.R. only with a modified Havok. The graphics feature an improvement, but don't expect to see a radical change in graphics. More enemies, both supernatural and human, will be shown and improved weaponry will also be available in order to fight them. The AI enemies have been redesigned so exploits are kept to a minimum.

Slow motion combat is still available and this is beneficial to the game, as slowing down time is sometimes the only way to escape death-dealing situations. Martial arts melee moves will delight the players while the lack of leaning behind pillars or walls will disappoint.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is quite similar to the first F.E.A.R. game, and despite mech fights and some different enemies, it almost feels like a third DLC. The horror feeling is sustained through the entire game so playing with your headphones and the light dimmed is the only way to truly enjoy it.

The fact that in the end you see Alma pregnant is a great addition to the story and a nice way to continue with F.E.A.R. 3.
