Games make it the hardest for your computer when it comes to resource allocation. If you don’t have a top of the line gaming system, most of the time you’ll be experiencing noticeable falls in performance which in the long run, translates to an acceleration in ‘wear and tear’.

Game Assistant is a utility that is meant to help you keep track of the temperature for multiple key components that are installed on your computer and it can do this both in and out of a game.

A key aspect for any tool that collects and displays system metrics is making the information easy to view and Game Assistant is spot on. The moment you launch it, in a side panel you get to view real-time temperature values for CPU, GPU and the motherboard, the key components that you need to keep an eye on.

Data is provided in an easy to read format and the application can also generate a graph which keeps track of temperature fluctuations for a period of five minutes. Each of the previously mentioned hardware pieces has its own colored graph which makes it easy to differentiate them as well as see when sudden spikes occur.

It seems that the application doesn’t offer the possibility to monitor an extensive period of game play time, say an hour, so you can make more sense of how much of a strain it puts on your computer. On the other hand, it does allow you to set critical temperature values and if they are reached, the application automatically alerts you.

Apart from temperature surveillance, Game Assistant offers two tools which can certainly come in handy in a number of scenarios. One of them allows you to take screenshots with whatever is going on on your monitor so you have the game alongside the metrics and graphs.

Another one is the ‘Clear RAM’ function which frees up some memory with just one click. This can be performed manually every time you feel it’s required, but Game Assistant already optimizes whenever you launch a game.

To sum things up, Game Assistant is a neat little tool to have since it can serve as a games launcher, system monitor and optimizer, all under one GUI.
