Pajama Sam: Life is Rough is an animated game that puts you in the pyjamas of Sam, a little boy who plans to make one of his biggest dreams come true. He is about to meet his hero, Pajama Man and have him sign a first edition of his comic book, but before Sam gets a hold of the comic, he has a big adventure ahead of him.

Pajama Sam: Life is Rough is a point and click with a design that makes it more of a cartoon than a game. The gameplay follows the standard procedure, you click on stuff to interact or collect it, you use items that are stored in an inventory and the story unravels through dozens of conversation segments.

The narration is a big part of the game and it’s wonderfully done. The child’s voice for Sam is excellent and so are the ones that are given to the other characters. You’ll meet a broken toy plane, an old stove, a popped balloon, and even a dirty sock, each one with a distinct personality that make the story more captivating.

Humor is something Pajama Sam: Life is Rough has, but it’s the type that appeals to the younger generation. It’s the harmless kind that’s whimsical and cute, and in some cases it can also be a bit dark.

The world in Pajama Sam: Life is Rough is that from a child’s imagination but at times it’s a bit strange. An example for this are the types of hero and villain cards that you uncover on your journey. These are not the Marvel or DC Comics kind of characters, they’re blends from cows, mud golems, and soda fizzle. Understanding some of the fusions will be a challenge and kind of interesting.

In essence Pajama Sam: Life is Rough is a journey in which Sam reaches the conclusion that it’s best he keeps his room clean. But, prior to all that work of cleaning, he does get to enjoy a good adventure.
