Dora the Explorer is one of the most well-known educational characters out there, thanks to the fact that she teaches young children how to behave, how to count and how to speak a foreign language. However, most of her exploits involve adventures, because children are always excited about going on trips. Hence, a video game is the perfect tool to make them believe that they are truly joining Dora in her adventures.

Dora's World Adventure is a very simple casual game designed for small children, in which the player has to follow simple instructions and help Dora deal with some obstacles in her trip. In essence, it is all about teaching them a thing or two about language, friendship and basic maths, although there’s nothing too complicated to make the children feel pressured.

The story starts with the beloved character planning a trip all over the world, reaching countries like France and Russia. Naturally, each one of these countries requires a different outfit and it also poses a different challenge. Dora is also joined by a few of her friends along the way, including Swiper, the friendly fox who comes in handy when something needs to be acquired silently.

Just like in the TV program, Dora is always talking to the children and waiting for their answers. Positive reinforcement is also emphasized on, especially since there is no way to lose at this game. In essence, all you have to do is wait through the cutscenes and participate in simple mini-games in the meantime, all of which require you to move the cursor around the screen or click on stuff.

As far as the visual quality is concerned, the game looks almost exactly like the cartoon, so the children should feel right at home. The animations are smooth and the characters look exactly as they should, although there’s not much variety in the backgrounds. Good things can be said about the voice acting as well, even if the same lines and responses are repeated multiple times.

Dora's World Adventure achieves its purpose and it is as fun and soothing as the show itself, which means that you can safely let your children enjoy it. Not only that, but they might also learn a thing or two, thanks to Dora’s crafty teaching technique.
