Comanche 4

Comanche 4 is a helicopter simulator meant to take you inside the cockpit of the famous war machine and see just how good you can be. You will be piloting the Comanche RAH-66 in both single player missions as well as in multiplayer combat sessions.

Keep in mind that Comanche 4 is a game that was released in 2001 and it’s best you judge it by that time standards. Back then, it looked great and it managed to recreate a pretty good feeling of what it takes to pilot a helicopter. Now, it’s just playable, with gameplay and graphics that won’t impress but which are still fairly decent.

Controls are plentiful but easy to remember and master, gameplay is well polished and it’s a fairly challenging game to play, which is always nice to know.

Flying a chopper in Comanche 4 can take its toll on you. Since it’s a simulator, you’ll have to deal with control rotors, landing gear, different flying altitudes, weapon targeting and loads more. Certain missions allow you to control other helicopters by issuing orders to them, which will prove to be rather difficult when the enemy is shooting at your from all over.

Getting a good sense of positioning in combat is crucial and so is knowing how fast and precise your helicopter can fly and turn. After all, it’s all riding on you so you need to be in total control.

Comanche 4’s time has long set. However, it’s still a decent game to try. It might look rather bad but on the challenge is there, and if you're willing to get passed aesthetics, you’ll surely enjoy the game.
