Winter sports are a bit more difficult to get good at, since most of the countries around the world can only enjoy the season for two or three months every year. Hence, there isn't too much time to practice, although there are in-doors venues where the professionals can train even when the sun is burning hot outside and the slopes are used in other purposes.

Bode Miller Alpine Skiing is a game that allows you to enjoy winter anytime you want, as well as take a shot at the professional scene and compete in the most prestigious tournaments from all over the world. There are a variety of disciplines to choose from, each one of which requires different talents and a lot of practice to master entirely.

To begin with, the most basic discipline and the easiest to understand is the Downhill competition, in which one skier must go down the slope as fast as he can, while going through some gates along the way. In case you miss too many gates, or you happen to fall after bumping into the surrounding fence, you are automatically disqualified from the event and you must try again. You can also take part in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G tournaments, although they are a bit more difficult than regular Downhill events.

As you win more and more competitions, better sponsors become interested and they offer you better equipment, including clothes and helmets. Naturally, the equipment does not really affect your performance, but it does look better and it gives you a sense of achievement. The skier himself, on the other hand, has certain abilities that determine his ability to corner and maintain his balance.

Visually, the game does not really excel, but the animations are nice and the character models are detailed enough to make them look realistic. However, taking into account the fact that beside the slope, a few trees and the skier himself there isn't much of anything else, the graphics engine could have handled a lot more detail and still managed to maintain a decent framerate.

In the end, Bode Miller Alpine Skiing can be thoroughly enjoyed for quite a long period of time, especially since the competitions become more and more difficult as you progress. There's a lot of equipment to collect and plenty of tracks from all over the world to explore.
