Billiards Demo
Play pool online with other players from around the world in this realistic simulator featuring a variety of game modes. #Pool simulator #8-ball pool #Snooker sim #Pool #8-Ball #9-ball
In order to properly enjoy a game of pool on the computer, the simulation must come pretty close to the real thing, otherwise it feels off and you don’t get to use your real-world skills at all. Hence, a convincing physics engine is required to make the experience worthwhile, although that may intimidate newcomers and inexperienced pool players.
Billiards appears to be quite simple at a glance, and it actually is in many regards. However, it also tries to simulate the ball physics as close to reality as possible, so you can put your real world expertise into practice. Not only that, but it also packs the most popular pool variations as well, including 8-ball, 9-ball, and the world-renowned snooker. Hence, you should find what you are looking for, regardless of preferences.
To begin with, there are multiple game modes to choose from as well, depending on what you are in the mood for. The practice mode comes with trajectory guidelines and no opponent to mess with your match, which is perfect for when you want to refine your technique. On the other hand, it is also possible to engage in online matches with other players, which is great for when you are in the mood for a bit of competition.
One of the disappointing facts about the game is that it forces you to use the top-down perspective. While that’s not a bad thing per se, it is not very realistic, so it may make it more difficult for you to play in the real world, where the perspective changes dramatically. Other than that, the user interface is as intuitive as possible, with only a handful of menus and options to shuffle through.
Speaking of which, the visual quality is nothing to stand in awe of, although the lighting is quite neat, and the reflections are realistic in most cases. There’s not much else to see, on the other hand, because there are no environments, and you can only switch between two different tables. The sound effects are nothing special either, although that’s hardly something to be disappointed at.
Although Billiards has its fair share of flaws, the simulation is pretty accurate, and you can still have a lot of fun with the game under the right circumstances. However, it could use a few more customization options, especially when it comes to the tables.
