Aliens never seem to have good intentions for humans whenever they are depicted in movies or video games, which is why they usually end up dead. However, their supreme technology gets humanity in trouble for a while, at least until people realize that the mothership can be hacked and disabled using a simple laptop. As such, the godly invaders never stand a chance against the crafty humans.and their Java applets.
Defeat hordes of vicious aliens using a variety of guns
Alien Shooter is a top-down arcade shooter in which the aliens are nothing more than vicious monsters with big mouths and huge teeth, so all you need to do is blast them to pieces. However, they come in huge numbers to make up for their low-tech capabilities, which kind of evens things out. The game also includes RPG elements, because you are allowed to increase your stats and choose between two different characters.
The weapons are by far the most important, on the other hand, because they keep you alive. Whether it’s a shotgun, a minigun or a simple pistol, you always need to have something handy, otherwise you quickly get overrun by hordes of monsters. They may not be smart, but intelligence is not needed when you can simply smother the target to death with sheer numbers alone.
Explore a variety of environments and find interesting power-ups
Sometimes, the aliens can drop interesting items behind them when they die, besides health packs and ammunition. Armors and special explosives can be part of the deal as well, depending on how well you explore the levels. Hidden rooms can hold many secrets as well, although they are obviously rather difficult to find. All in all, there are many ways to spice up the experience with every playthrough.
Given the fact that the game is quite old at this point, it should be no wonder that the graphics engine is rusty as well. The isometric perspective was well chosen at the time, on the other hand, because it does a good job at hiding the imperfections even today. You can still tell that the third dimension is lacking, although it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The sounds are quite spooky, on the other hand, and the music goes well with the action on the screen most of the time.
A challenging game for hardcore fans of the genre
When it’s all said and done, Alien Shooter achieves its purpose and it can provide action fans with many hours of gameplay and entertainment. Be warned, however, that the difficulty level is not exactly friendly, and it may take a while to get used to the mechanics.
