EVE Online is the forerunner of next generation massive multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) set in a world of galactic magnitude and governed by a hyper capitalistic economy with huge economic interests.

In a universe of this scope, you are free to discover your own place, be it in the form of a humble trader ferrying goods from system to system, a despicable pirate preying on anyone foolish enough to cross your path, a heroic combat pilot lancing through the fray as you battle for your faction, or a mighty business icon leading a corporation with hundreds of employees.

To accomplish any or all of this, your main tools will include a diverse array of sophisticated equipment, spaceships, and social interfaces, but you'll also need a strong business acumen, cunning combat strategies, and often pure Machiavellian thinking.

EVE takes place in a cluster of stars far from mankind's original habitat, planet Earth. How far away, and whether or not that cradle of civilization still exists, is a mystery. Humans arrived through a natural wormhole and, gazing up upon an alien sky they had never seen, were completely unable to determine where this new world was located. From the New Eden solar system, where the gate of EVE once led to the old world, humans expanded in all directions at a furious pace, exploring and colonizing rapidly.

Then, unexpectedly and seemingly unprovoked, the EVE gate collapsed in an apocalyptic catastrophe of a scale never before witnessed by the human race, ruining the New Eden system in the process. Thousands of small colonies were left in complete isolation to fend for themselves, cut off from the old world. For millennia they endured, clinging to the brink of extinction, and only a handful managed to survive.

Of those that lasted, five were to rise up and become the major empires that, between them, hold the balance of power in the world of EVE. Today, they are known as the Amarr Empire, the Gallente Federation, the Caldari State, the Minmatar Republic, and the Jovian Empire. Additionally, the world is full of several small, independent factions and states.

For more than a century, the five empires have lived together in relative peace. They've continually strived to maintain this peace, as each faction realizes only too well the grave consequences of a massive inter-stellar war. Recent technological breakthroughs in FTL travel, and the ensuing increase in space travelers, have shaken, but not broken, the fragile peace... at least not yet.

What's New in This Release:

Need for Speed Initiative
· Multiple database procedure updates and optimizations have been added, this results in a greatly reduced amount of load on the SQL servers and improved server stability.
EVE Voice
· An issue that prevented running of multiple EVE clients using multiple Windows users has been resolved. It is now possible to run multiple clients using Fast User Switching in Windows.
· An extraneous (and empty) "plugins" directory was being created on Voice enabled accounts. This directory will no longer be created.
Localization
· The following changes and fixes have been made to localized clients:
· Some character sheet information, such as school and bloodline, will now display in the correct language.
· The scan categories in the scanner will now display in the correct language.
· The "Item Groups" list will now display in the correct language.
· The agent race in the conversation panel will now display in the correct language.
· The warning message of "You cannot keep xxxx range" will now display in the correct language.
· The "No distance available" warning message will display in the correct language.
· When creating a contract, the string "current station" will now display in the correct language.
· In the journal, a public contract would show 'none' as issued to. This will now display in the correct language.
· On the fitting screen, the recharge rate of the capacitor will now display in the correct language.
· The 'Compare' button to summon the compare tool will now display in the correct language.
· When assuming control of Starbase defences, "Target" and "Source" will now display in the correct language.
· When applying changes to a corporation member, the "saving changes" dialog was not translated. This will now display in the correct language.
· The "Auto target back" dropdown menu now displays correctly.
· The client version number displayed on the system menu is no longer clipped.
· Several texts in the starbase management window are no longer clipped.
· An exception thrown by localized clients when opening a show info window has been resolved. This exception was nothing more than a warning.
Miscellaneous
· The spacing in Wallet Column titles has been improved.
· The uninstaller no longer deleted non-EVE related shortcuts from C:Documents and Settings[user]Start MenuPrograms.
· An error where a Unicode character in the install folder name would prevent the display of mission details has been resolved.
· The Opus Alliance logo has been updated.
Exploit Fixes
CONCORD
· CONCORD officers will now drop the donuts and immediately deploy with the intention of smoking your criminal derrière if you remote repair criminal NPCs. They will no longer set up a roadblock at the next stargate and wait for you.
