Spiral Knights

When you think about Action RPGs (ARPGs for short), you are probably thinking about Diablo, Path of Exile or other similar games of epic proportions, but never would you think about Spiral Knights. This neat little title is an online arcade-style ARPG where you control a small Spiral Knight and your job is to make your way through a hostile planet teeming with all manner of alien creatures.

No knight can call himself a knight without his trusty weapon, shield, and suit of armor, and in Spiral Knights those will become your most trusted friends, since they will allow you to kill more efficiently, and prevent you from dying pathetically. As a Spiral Knight you have total freedom to customize and use your arsenal however you choose thanks to the neat character management system.  This system allows you to overlook the design of your currently equipped items and use looks from the ones you like more, so you won't end up looking like a cyber clown.

Unlike other ARPGs, Spiral Knights can be controlled exclusively using the keyboard, and careful positioning around the map is key to victory, especially during boss encounters. Since the game is an online title, there will be plenty of missions and maps to explore that will only beatable using teamwork and coordination. More so, environmental hazards such as obstacles and traps will also be on your list of things to deal with, so gameplay always feels fresh and dynamic. Lastly, you'll probably adore the minimalist graphics and the chibi-like art style, which is also extremely easy on your PC, so you don't need a full on gaming PC to enjoy the game.

Rarely have I ever had the chance to try a game that feels so retro and modern at the same time, and you'll absolutely adore the way the game looks and feels. As such, if you are a fan of Sci-Fi, and maybe even mech-themed anime, then you should definitely give Spiral Knights a try!
