Zombie survival games seem to always be popular, at least if we judge by the number of games released in the last few years. Granted, very few of them manage to provide the players with a worthwhile experience, given the fact that there are always AI, PVP and cheating problems. Hence, even with all that variety available to you, your options are pretty limited.

Infestation: The New Z is a third/first-person survival game with a more action-oriented gameplay than most other games in the genre, given the fact that it encourages PVP more. Hence, you are much more likely to be fragged by other players than you are to be overwhelmed by zombies, which is good if you are not looking for a DayZ alternative. On the other hand, it can be rather frustrating at first.

Hence, it’s easier to find guns around the game world if you explore the cities and villages, but that just means almost everyone has guns and can hunt you down. Most of your deaths are going to be from hidden snipers guarding loot bags, so you are bound to rage quit at least a couple of time. However, you are free to do the same as well, so it’s fairly balanced in this regard.

Thankfully, everything works great when it comes to character movement and weapon feeling, which is pretty important in a shooter. Some of the zombie animations can be rather glitchy, but that’s not always the case. You can switch to a first-person perspective whenever you are using a gun, which makes it easier to aim and increase your accuracy.

As for the graphics, the game looks very good, especially since a lot of work went into the environment and the post-processing effects. Thus, the day/night cycle look gorgeous, and so does the vegetation that occupies a large portion of the map. The textures are quite nice as well, which makes for a much nicer atmosphere and realistic landscapes.

In the end, Infestation: The New Z is a pretty balanced combination of survival and PVP, although the latter is much more . Hence, the game is much more suitable for those looking for constant action against other players, because the survival and exploration aspects are pretty basic.
