BlackShot Online Client
It’s not difficult to conceive a multiplayer shooter, given the fact that all you need is a bunch of guns and the appropriate setting for people to start fragging each other. However, it is much more complicated to make a good shooter, because you need to keep an eye on a multitude of elements and balance everything out as smoothly as possible, otherwise players lose interest.
A regular shooter with nothing out of the ordinary
BlackShot did not bother with innovation and tried to make everything feel as familiar as possible, which is also a good bet in the right circumstances. As such, every FPS player should be right at home with the gameplay mechanics and the atmosphere, although there are a few small differences here and there. The most important of these are the microtransactions, which can be used to purchase in-game items.
BlackShot is a mixture between Call of Duty and Counter-Strike, so it’s hardly anything original or unheard of. You are required to create a character when you first enter the game, which means that you can gain experience and currency by winning matches. Better weapons and equipment can be purchased when you have enough bounty points, although it is also possible to rent the said items for a few hours only.
Small maps and old graphics engine
Probably the most disappointing thing at the game are the maps you have to play on, because it is quite obvious that no one put any real effort into their design. Besides the fact that most of them are too small to be any fun, they also lack any kind of personality, in the sense that there is nothing to see except for blank walls and the occasional stairs. While this wouldn’t be a problem in general, the rest of the gameplay is not fun enough to make you forget about the environment.
Thankfully, you can avoid losing ad infinitum against players with better equipment by playing on beginner servers, where other newbies learn the basics as well. The microtransactions can still make your life difficult every now and again, not to mention the fact that it is quite difficult to raise any bounty points by simply playing the way you’re supposed to. In addition, the game looks old and blocky, which makes it unattractive nowadays.
Many components in need of improvement
When it’s all said and done, BlackShot is not horrible, but it lacks the appropriate elements to make it worth the transition from Counter-Strike or Call of Duty. Hence, unless you are a diehard fan of microtransactions, you’d better stick with the evil you already know and love.
