Atom Universe

Atom Universe is a virtual 3D social gaming platform that proposes to do something almost unique, to gather all gamers in a single world and to ease their interactions with games and other activities.

Atom Universe is not a game per se; it’s more like a gaming hub for people from around the world, and from different platforms. We would like to say that it’s something unique, but that’s not the case because there was something similar until a few years ago and it was called PlayStation Home. It followed the same basic idea, but it didn’t have the same scope. Atom Universe has much bigger plans.

Gaming hubs are common, especially for MMO titles, but we don’t have gaming hubs that are just that. The developers Atom Universe are trying break ground with their application, which is entirely 3D and which provides a lot of entertainment for people who want to join. At least, this is their plan since until now only a small part of Atom Universe has been completed.

You can think of Atom Universe as a 3D social network. Its function is to bring people together. They can have their own private space inside this virtual world, of they can go into the public place and hang out with other people.

Atom Universe is not just a room. Eventually, the public place will be populated by games and other activities, ranging from pinball to roller-coasters. Many of these game have high scores, and they will even support tournaments for some of them.

On the other hand, Atom Universe is marked as a free to play, which means that all of these activities won’t be free. Everything will cost, but it’s still unclear how will these credits will be sold. For example, when a new user joins the public space he’s awarded 40 credits and a round of bowling costs 10.

Atom Universe is built on the Unreal engine, so it’s pretty versatile. Technically, the finished products should work very well, even on low-end systems, but for now, it needs a lot of work. The version that’s available right now is far from complete and only have a couple of activities available.
