Age of Wushu

Age of Wushu is a martial arts based MMORPG that takes you into a representation of medieval China where you will follow your destiny of becoming a skilled warrior. The game features an immensely immersive open world in which thousand of quests, great battles and random events await.

Age of Wushu features some of the core mechanics and visuals that you’ve seen in almost every MMORPG out there but the experience is vastly different. Gameplay is roughly the same but it’s not hard to understand that combat is very different and how you shape your character has much more depth than other MMOs.

Being a martial arts focused game, you get mostly hand to hand combat or using a series of weapons that are inspired from real life or conceived to have sense and purpose with the theme of the game. There are no fireballs to hurl at enemies or minions to summon, here you begin as a humble disciple and fight your way to the top in a different way.

We all have to admit that Asian culture that surrounds martial arts has been and will continue to be appealing to everyone. In Age of Wushu you have multiple sects to offer your allegiance to such as the Shaolin, Emei, Wudang, Beggar’s Sect, Scholar’s Academy, Tang Clan, Royal Guard and Blissful Valley. The names might not say much but on the battlefield, each one is easily distinguishable.

Age of Wushu is blessed with tons of lore, words of wisdom and well written text that make the experience that much more appealing. Combat gets fairly complex as it has loads of variables to consider, skills act differently than in standard MMOs so overall, expect something familiar but actually different.

Age of Wushu looks good although it’s rather old by game standards. There is a lot in the game that needs polishing but a large scale overhaul of the game might not be a feasible option. The game is kind of empty but if you enjoy wandering about in vast worlds, it’s a good choice.
