Zoos can be designed to accommodate almost every species out there, at least well enough so they forget the fact that they are in captivity. To achieve that, though, they need to be carefully tended to, while the conditions of their enclosure must simulate their natural environment as close as possible, in order to make them feel safe and comfortable.

Zoo Empire is a game that provides you with the ability to experience this challenge, by putting you in the shoes of a brand-new animal park employee with a vision. Over the course of a large variety of scenarios and missions, you have to advance through the ranks and ultimately become the manager over the entire establishment, with control over every venue and the animals themselves.

Before that, though, you must start off small, by cleaning cages, taking pictures of various animals and taming them when they get violent and put the other visitors in danger. At the beginning of every mission, you are given a few objectives to accomplish, all of which require different skills to pull of. Depending on the amount of experience points you spent in those skills at the character creation wizard, you are more or less able to perform them quite easily.

Naturally, a big part of the game are the animals themselves, which range from common giraffes and gorillas, to rhinos and polar bears, depending on your budget and preferences. Every species requires its own habitat, which must also be maintained regularly in order to avoid mishaps concerning disease. The food is different for every species, ranging from grass, to leaves and fresh meat.

All of these things cost money, but you can also make a profit by charging the visitors for their ticket, as well as by placing various venues around the park in order to make extra cash. Obviously, the more animals you have and the rarer they are, more and more visitors you attract, which in turn increases your profits.

Zoo Empire might look rather simple from the outside, but once you get into the career mode, you quickly find that there is a lot more to it, especially since the missions require different things from you and they're not always too easy to pull off. The beautiful 3D graphics give you plenty to admire, since the animals are carefully modeled as close to reality as possible.
