XCavalypse Demo
Survive a zombie apocalypse using an excavator in this funny action game playable in multiplayer. #Zombie survival #Excavator game #Action game #Zombie #Excavator #Action
It’s difficult to think about zombies and still find something exciting about the concept, given the fact that there are hundreds of books, video games, movies and TV shows out there that abused the idea in almost every possible way. However, at least video games can evolve when it comes to gameplay and realism, so they still have the power to keep you engaged.
XCavalypse has a very interesting idea at its core, even if it uses zombies as a starting point. Hence, instead of having to survive using guns or by running away, you get to use excavators as weapons, which is obviously quite enthralling. On the other hand, excavators are not really known for being quick and agile, so the action is not as thrilling as you might imagine it.
The whole thing starts with a tutorial that shows you the basics regarding controls and gameplay mechanics, although there’s not much to explain. Besides using the excavator’s claw to shove and crush zombies, you can also move around and destroy everything in your path, including walls and fences. On the other hand, the vehicle can easily get stuck in the environment if you are not careful.
Probably the most exciting thing about XCavalypse is the fact that it can be played in multiplayer, which means that you can join forces with other players and have a fleet of excavators working together against the zombie threat. Obviously, it really depends on whom you play with, but the experience is enjoyable enough to provide you with a bit of fun every now and again.
As for the graphics, the game looks pretty nice, especially since you can activate a variety of post-processing effects to be added on top. The animations and the object quality are great as well, although it must be mentioned that some of the textures are not as hi-res as they could be. Thankfully, you’ll have little time to worry about texture size when you have to deal with dozens of zombies at once.
In the end, XCavalypse is definitely something new, but that doesn’t automatically make it good as well. Hence, the controls are pretty horrific in the excavator, and the action gets repetitive in a rush after a while. However, things can be made better if the game is improved later on and more content is added along the way.
