World Keepers: Last Resort

Pirates used to be quite dangerous back in the day, especially since there were no good methods to keep track of them out on the sea. Things are much easier nowadays thanks to GPS technology and radars, but there is still piracy in some areas, although you do not have to worry about entire fleets anymore.

World Keepers: Last Resort is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of a woman trapped on a ship after a head-on collision with another ship. Most of the gameplay mechanics are as classic as they can get in the genre, which means that you should be able to figure everything out from the first few seconds, especially if you are an old fan of HOPAs.

As far as the story is concerned, it turns out that the pirate ship was haunted by a mysterious black smoke, which has the power to turn its victims into skeletons with a simple touch. Hence, it is up to you to find a way to stop the plague and save the world, and there’s a long journey ahead. While it may not be a riveting tale that changes the way you think, World Keepers: Last Resort’s story is pretty engaging.

In order to keep you entertained, the game provides you with a variety of interesting puzzles that need to be solved, although they are not as difficult most of the time. They usually require you to figure out a specific pattern, or at least move various levers until something clicks and the lock opens. Granted, at least the hidden object scenes are nicely done.

Speaking of which, the graphics are certainly nice, which allows you to fully immerse yourself in the game’s atmosphere. Every scene and landscape is extremely detailed, and even the short cutscenes are nicely done for a change. On top of it all, the soundtrack is decent as well, although some of the sound effects do not appear to belong every now and again.

In the end, World Keepers: Last Resort may not be overly complicated in terms of gameplay mechanics, but it has the power to keep you playing in spite of that. Hence, hidden object fans should feel right at home in the game.
