When Pigs Fly

Between psychotic goats and suicidal bread, there is room for flying pigs. When Pigs Fly is the name, and you can very easily guess what the game is about. As a bored farmer with a surprisingly large amount of spare farm related scrap, you have to build for your special little piggie whatever flying machines your mind can conjure.

Without a doubt, the idea in When Pigs Fly is as simple as it is excellent. I’m a bit surprised I haven’t seen another one like this so far. It’s not like the saying hasn’t been around since forever. Anyway, it’s good that it’s here.

Right off the bat, When Pigs Fly will take a bit of getting used to when it comes to both of the core features, building and flying. It takes a good couple of minutes to wrap your head around everything but once that’s done, the game opens up when it comes to what you can do.

Note that the game is fairly unpolished in some aspects but overall, it’s solid. After you master the controls in build mode, you can use a wide range of materials to craft some totally crazy contraptions. Your imagination is the limit. Well, that and the fact that you don’t have an infinite number of parts to use.

The sky's the limit but not necessarily. In When Pigs Fly you can build whatever you can envision and attempt to fly it as high as you can. Keep in mind though that When Pigs Fly features accurate physics that make building and flying both fun and challenging. A little bit of airplane know-how certainly helps.

One thing that’s great about When Pigs Fly is that you can also build boats and cars or anything in between. On the game’s Steam Greenlight page, I saw an Imperial Walker from Star Wars with the piggie strapped on with lasers and everything. How do you not want a game that allows you to do that?

When Pigs Fly could use a grid system for building, more parts, visual polishing and maybe pig on pig multiplayer air brawls. There’s certainly a lot of room for improvement, and it’s certainly going to happen. When Pigs Fly is too good to not bring it to life the proper way.
