Waveform is a beautiful action puzzle game from developers Eden Industries that allows players to ride and control a light wave.

When developers say that their game is an action puzzle, we tend not to believe them. Most of the time we have games in one genre of another that borrow certain elements from other ones. That’s OK, but a game that sits with both legs is different bots doesn’t really work. We’re happy to say that Waveform is neither an action game or a puzzle game, but somehow it meet the criteria for both of them.

Puzzle games have a clear mandate. They have to challenge players to find a solution for getting out of the level. That solution can come in many forms, but this is the broad definition. Many claim to be puzzle games even if they are not, and the same is true for vice-versa. Titles that embrace this from the start have a much better outcome.

We can safely say that Waveform is the only game in which the player controls a lightwave, in this case through the solar system. It’s a weird concept, but it’s been broken down to the basics so that anyone can play it.

It’s quite possible that some of you don’t know that light is considered a wave in certain situations, and the same it true for any kind of radiation. Radio is one of those radiations, and we have all heard of radio waves.

The principle is the same. We see a representation of a wave of light, and we can control its length and frequency. The idea is to get past all of the obstacles and gather various items and objects along the way.

Surprisingly, there is also a story behind this. You’re on a journey to restore light to another dying galaxy which is being devoured by a black hole. I just said that there is a story, not that it makes a lot of sense.

The full game has more 100 levels, which are going to keep users entertained for a very long time.
