Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March Demo (Single Player)

As the name implies, the Warhammer universe is all about war and destruction. Although the humankind might try to avoid conflict and keep the peace, the other races want nothing else than for the battles to continue and more blood to be spilled, even if no one gets anything in return at the end of the day.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March tells the story from both the Chaos and the Order's perspective, meaning that you get to play with the Empire and the Elven forces, as well as with the Chaos and Skaven warriors. As you switch between the two factions, the atmosphere does as well, especially since the Chaos Marauders and Skaven are very violent and destructive, while the Empire emphasize on tactics and technology to overpower their enemies.

A major addition to the gameplay are the heroes, which are powerful units that have a significant impact on the battlefield, due to the fact that they increase the morale of the other troops and they possess powerful abilities that can turn a battle around. Thus, there is no base-building or classical resource gathering, as it is customary in an RTS. Instead, you get to gather gold through combat and by finding it out on the map. Hence, the money can be used to buy new troops, items or various other things that can be of help in battle.

The combat mechanics are based on the Total War series, rather than on C&C or Starcraft, which means that, with the exception of heroes, you can only select entire unit groups at once, so you cannot do any kind of micromanagement after the fight has started. You can, however, arrange your troops before each confrontation, as well as make use of formations and various other tactics to overpower your enemies.
