All of the tracks are present as well and they are carefully modeled to simulate the real environments as well, along with the surrounding buildings and even the rocks scattered around the road.

As with every other game of this type, you are not allowed to compete with every vehicle class right from the bat, since you have to unlock more game modes and vehicles by gradually winning competitions. Hence, there's always a reason to play and get better, since there are always more cars to try out, each one of which behaves differently out on the track.

Before each race, you get the option to modify your car, but not with shiny bumpers or kitschy neon lights. In fact, the modifications are purely mechanic and they affect the way the car behaves on the track, because it takes into consideration the rear, front and center axle differentials, the suspension stiffness and even the gearbox ratio, which affects the acceleration of the vehicle.

For an even more realistic experience, the new-age graphics engine features exquisite car geometry and very well-made special effects, including motion blur, bloom and depth-of-field. Moreover, each time you happen to match your strength against rocks or trees, the car suffers extensive damage to the bodywork. The wheels themselves are also sensitive to crashes and it becomes increasingly more difficult to steer correctly in turns, if you keep on crashing.

Although the handling could have used a bit more work, WRC FIA World Rally Championship achieves its purpose and provides you with quite a few hours of intense entertainment. The fun can always be extended to multiplayer, where you can match your skills against players from all over the world.
