Void Raiders

Void Raiders is a pixel art top-down shooter that’s light on your hard drive but a menace to your attention span and focus. This little creation is built to be fast-paced, engaging, challenging and a lot of fun.

Sometimes we find a lot of appreciation for a game that’s simple in design and concept but well executed and fun to play. Void Raiders is an example of that. It’s still in development, and this is just a brief demo but what you’ll see is a nifty little thing.

Your first instinct is to enter the randomly generated level and start blasting enemies with no sense of responsibility for ammo; but you shouldn’t. Ammo is limited, and the bad guys come in infinite numbers. If you don’t micro-manage every bullet by aiming like a pro, the game might end a bit faster than you want. Which reminds me, there’s permadeath. Fun!

However, your little guy retains all the experience he earns and the items you pick up stick too. Yes, in Void Raiders your character gains experience, and when he levels, new skill points are assigned. The game has a slight dose of RPG in it and it’s a good touch.

One of the most annoying things in shoot’em ups is when you just can’t get away from the enemy. Void Raiders features this delightful scenario, but it’s implemented to keep you on your feet, running and gunning with consideration. It’s all built to be challenging and enjoyable at the same time.

Enemies come in various shapes and sizes, some shoot bullets, others throw boom sticks and so on. If you’re looking for a top-down shooter that won’t let you blink, Void Raiders is a safe bet.

Still in the works, Void Raiders is promised to have multiple characters, several missions and a lot of shooting. Ranked gameplay is considered as well. Void Raiders is a good game at this stage. Maybe add in co-op or versus, and it’s a done deal.
