While there are very few things worth remembering in wars, the people who give it their all in order to save the injured are definitely worthy of praise, especially since most of them have no military training and they have to risk their lives in the middle of the battlefield. Vietnam was no different and the medical teams showed their courage once more.

Vietnam Med Evac gives you a taste of what it takes to be a war zone medevac pilot, by allowing you to take full control over the famous Huey helicopter and do your best not to crash it, as well as rescue those who are in dire need of medical help. While the main purpose throughout the missions is to get to the injured soldiers and extract them, the far greater challenge is the helicopter itself, which is pretty difficult to control.

The missions usually start off on the helipad and you have to lift off the ground first, which, albeit not very complicated, can get pretty hairy as well. Thus, you need to wait for the signal in order to avoid losing points, as well as be aware of your surroundings, so you don't stumble into any nearby buildings. After you're in the air, you can head on to the extraction point and begin your mission.

Getting there, on the other hand, is a different story entirely, because the wind, your ability to coordinate and various other factors play a role in the outcome of the mission. A realistic physics engine makes sure that the helicopter acts as close to reality as possible, which means that your input must be very precise, otherwise you risk crashing quite quickly.

Graphically, the game features quite detailed helicopter models, but the surrounding environment and the settlements themselves are far from detailed, not to mention the fact that most of the landscape is devoid of any plants, rocks or basically anything else. Hence, while it may be fun to pilot the helicopters all across the map, it is rather disappointing that there's nothing to see on them.

Despite that, Vietnam Med Evac can still keep you entertained for quite a while, especially due to the fact that every mission is special and different challenges await you every time. The realistic physics are always a pleasure to see in action, even if they are responsible for countless crashes.
