In Vertical Drop Heroes HD, you start off by choosing one of three randomly suggested heroes from a larger character pool and set off through the Portal at the Temple of Knowledge to find that which reveals the secret to existence. It’s a nice and quick to deliver plot that takes you right into the action without having you ask too many questions.

As far as controls go, Vertical Drop Heroes is easy to learn but rather difficult to master and you’ll understand why right after you reach the middle of level 2. Each level is completely randomized, meaning that you never get the same layout or enemy distribution and at times, the way enemies are clumped up makes it really difficult to kill them.

It is possible to finish a level without fighting everything but then again, each world is full of trapped heroes for you to save and ally with, mini quests that grant rewards and plenty of coins to collect. The latter type of loot is very important since you can use it as currency at various totems that grant temporary powerups or to permanently upgrade perks or learn new skills.

Simply put, Vertical Drop Heroes is relaxing to look at. Characters, enemies, levels, every little details is great, effects and animations are well done and everything simply falls into place the right way, allowing you to enjoy a dynamic, challenging and well polished game.

Characters are very charming and they even give a nice little happy grin when they get some quick kills or when they free a fellow hero from a trap. They are quick on their feet, a bit fragile at times but that’s where a good attack strategy comes into play. In Vertical Drop Heroes HD, simply swinging your sword or axe at the enemy won’t guarantee victory.

On a closing note, Vertical Drop Heroes HD is exactly that kind of game you want to have if you're looking for a challenge that keeps you entertained. Procedurally generated levels offer a great degree of replayability and since you can bring in a friend for a bit of co-op, it can't really go wrong with it.
