Trophy Hunter 2003 DEMO

In order to provide you with the ultimate hunting experience, such games need to encompass a large map, realistic animal behavior and as many gadgets as possible to make the experience different each time. Trophy Hunter 2003 manages to accomplish some of these goals and come very close to achieving the others, although it does suffer from some bad choices as well.

Before you start hunting, you must first create and customize the character you will be playing with throughout the campaign, by choosing the desired appearance and customizing the available set of skills that determine how well can you accomplish various feats. Thus, you can perfect your aiming ability and never miss a shot, or increase the tracking skill in order to be able to find and follow the desired animals in no time.

The campaign provides you with a wide selection of challenges you must undertake across a variety of locations, which involve you capturing specific animals and taking the required number of trophies. Before each mission, you can read about the type of animals you are trying to hunt, as well as a little description of the area you will be exploring.

Although real hunters rely on their senses and experience to capture their prey, the game puts a wide variety of gadgets and gimmicks at your disposal, which are designed to make your job easier if you wish so. Hence, from lures and scent disguising, all the way to high-tech scopes that allow you to see across great distances, they can all give you the upper hand in the hunt.

The weapons used are also left for you to choose and they include everything from pump-action shotguns, to rifles and even crossbows. One useful addition is the ability to take a vehicle with you, which enables you to move faster across the terrain, but also makes a lot of noise and can scare the animals away if used in the wrong situation.

Trophy Hunter 2003 is, more or less, what you would expect from such a game, especially since it does a good job at recreating the real conditions of a hunt. The graphics are detailed enough to properly simulate the environment, although the physics engine is rather lacking and disappointing at times.
