The Story Goes On Demo

The Story Goes On is a neat little game that has you chasing after a mythical treasure that is said to lie at the middle of a maze. You’ll have to explore the maze room by room and hopefully figure out how to reach the riches. There is a catch though, the maze constantly shifts rooms and rearranges its structure, making it almost impossible to find the treasure, or a way out for that matter.
The Story Goes On shares some gameplay features that have already been used in several other games that follow the same idea of randomly generated mazes which have to be explored. As far as looks go, The Story Goes On follows its own style and sets itself well apart from other games, in fact, it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing so far.
Gameplay doesn't make use of any complicated mechanics but those that exist are super smooth and well implemented. You have a main sword attack and as you go deeper into the maze, you’ll have the chance of finding a random second weapon that you can use. Another thing that makes The Story Goes On appealing is the intuitivity of its controls and how well they work.
Each room you enter remains sealed until you defeat the various monsters that lie inside. Once you kill them, four exits appear and you must choose one to follow. After you make your decision you have to stick with it because there is no going back, even if you do actually go back. You won’t stumble into the same room you just left.
There’s no clear pattern to follow in order to reach a specific point. However, if you choose to always go through the top doorway, chances are that you will repeat the same room a couple of times. If that happens, change direction and you’ll soon stumble into the mysterious merchant or start your first boss fight.
On a closing note, The Story Goes On sends some very positive vibes. Visuals and audio are great, gameplay is fluid and entertaining and in a lot of cases, it really challenges you. There is still a lot of work to go in it but even so, it’s worth a shot.
