The Punisher Demo

Although superheroes like Batman or the Watchmen operate outside the law and are considered vigilantes, they leave their targets bound for the police to imprison, which is why they are somewhat tolerated. The Punisher, on the other hand, kills those who commit crimes, which makes him a killer as well and a very ruthless one at that.

The Punisher is a third-person action game that provides you with the opportunity to play as Punisher and perform all sorts of vicious killings across town, but getting rid of dangerous criminals in the process. As such, the violence is justified in a way, especially since most of the targets are actually coming to get Punisher anyway, so you basically spare them of a trip.

As far as the story is concerned, it all revolves around Punisher and his encounter with the law, since the entire game plot is basically a set of flashbacks, while he sits into an interrogation room, held by the police. Over the course of the career, you get to fight the Italian-American mafia, the Yakuza and various other famous villains from the Marvel universe.

Unlike other superheroes, Punisher does not make it easy at all of his victims, since he can go to extreme lengths in order to extract information from them, which includes some disturbing scenes of torture. Thus, you can choose to perform these actions, or witness a variety of other special sequences, which depend on who you attack and your violence level throughout the rest of the game.

In order to cope with the massive quantities of blood and the smooth body animations required to render the detailed torture scenes, the games employs a rather powerful graphic engine, although it does not excel at anything else. Thus, while the game world and the environments are quite well-made and original, they do not impress at all, but they don't have to anyway.

In the end, The Punisher provides you with a very solid experience in the darker corners of the Marvel universe, as well as an intriguing plot and more than enough action and gore to last you for a life time. You also get to unleash a bit of violence and not have to worry about the consequences.
