The Madness Of Little Emma is a 2D platformer that dives a bit into the world of insanity and supernatural. You play the role of Emma, a little girl who sets off to find her little brother who has vanished.

At a first glance, The Madness Of Little Emma looks like a game you played in the 90s, not that that’s a bad thing. A lot of people prefer the ‘classics’ look, and this little title is a perfect example of that.

It features pixel art graphics, simple design and a not-so vivid color palette. The latter is meant to contribute to the eerie atmosphere of the game because your little character will squish bugs and rats as she walks around shooting two giant bees and two-headed demon babies.

Emma is very agile and can jump to great heights. That, along with the fact that she shoots bubble-gum bullets (or at least I hope that’s what they are), make her the right candidate to storm the dungeons and fight the monsters that stand between her and her brother.

The Madness Of Little Emma features some roguelike elements, such as permanent death and items to stumble upon. You start the game from the same spot but each time you do so, the layout of the dungeons is different, and it’s populated with random monsters. This is a nice feature since you can’t beat the game by memorization, just by skill, and it also makes the gameplay seems less repetitive.

On a closing note, The Madness Of Little Emma is a good game to play if you’re looking for a casual experience. It’s not that hard to play, but neither is it easy to beat. It has the right kind of balance, and it is enjoyable.
