The Falconers: Moonlight Demo

Monster stories are always thrilling and enjoyable if they are told right, especially if they involve some heroes that go head-to-head with the said monsters. Mysteries are more engaging to investigate if they feature supernatural beings as well, because you never know what’s waiting for you at the end. In fact, even books can keep you on the edge of the seat if the story is interesting enough.

The Falconers: Moonlight is a gorgeous visual novel that allows you be a part of a wonderful universe and deal with dangerous monsters at the same time. In fact, most of your time is spent investigating a series of strange occurrences while you are trying to save an entire village on your own. Your decisions affect the course of the story, but don’t expect too much interactivity either.

The plot puts you in the role of a falconer by the name of Cassandra Winter, who’s tackling her first solo mission in a town by the name of Moonlight. Falconers are investigators that track down supernatural beings, so it’s only natural that one or more of them are responsible for the trouble here as well. Speaking of which, the whole action takes place in a 19th century New Zealand, which is a pretty original location.

Every now and again the game allows you to choose from multiple answers, although this does not always mean that the story changes depending on your input. However, some of the decisions you make actually affect the plot, so it’s nice to know that there are multiple endings you can reach. The characters are fairly interesting as well, even if you don’t get to know them very well in this short demo.

However, you do get to marvel at the gorgeous artwork produced for the game, since few visual novels have managed to look this good lately. Every background is a piece of art, and the same can be said about the characters that are part of the story. Granted, you must be a fan of the anime style in order to enjoy the character artwork, but that shouldn’t be too much of a stretch if you are a fan of the genre.

The Falconers: Moonlight is actually a very intriguing game that features amazing artwork and a unique story. The monsters should be quite exciting to hunt as well, depending on how the story evolves.
