The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Demo
The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of books written by the beloved author C.S. Lewis, in which four young siblings become heroes and manage to save the magical land of Narnia from the evil forces of the White Witch. Thus, their journey takes them through many incredible challenges and perils, most of which involve one or more monsters trying to stop their incursion into Narnia.
A cooperative action-adventure game
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe tells their story in a fun and interactive way, allowing you to take control over any of the siblings and use their skills to bring an end to the reign of the White Witch. In addition, you can also go through the adventure with a friend, since the game supports more than one player on the screen at the same time.
In order to defeat the evil that haunts Narnia and dissipate the eternal winter that has taken hold of the land, the four adventurers must face off against many dangerous monsters and foes, most of which choose to attack the party in groups. Hence, from enormous cyclops, to simple wolves and even legendary minotaurs, the game pits you against a variety of enemies, all of which require different tactics in order to eliminate.
Combo-based fighting style
Since the game is basically a continuous fight sequence, the combat system is pretty well refined to allow for impressive combos and abilities that can be used to take care of multiple foes at the same time. Unfortunately, the fights do get repetitive very quickly, since the moves are not nearly diverse enough to encourage longer game sessions, especially if you happen to stumble across slightly more powerful enemies.
You do, however, manage to enjoy the beautifully-rendered environment and general visual aspect of the game, since the graphic engine is quite formidable when it comes to depicting monsters, characters and landscapes. Thus, it can be a real pleasure to journey across Narnia and observe its frozen beauty, as well as admire the expertly crafted cut scenes scattered throughout the game.
A good-looking, but unrefined adventure game
In the end, the flaws concerning the character control and the linear progression of the game make The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe a rather mediocre game, despite its beautiful visuals and exquisite landscapes. However, the fact that you can play it with your friends does make it a lot more fun and you can probably get over the aforementioned minuses once you immerse into the atmosphere.
