The Albino Hunter Demo

The Albino Hunter is a 2D action RPG game developed by Cherry-sama and published with Cherry Co. Studios.

There seems to be an abundance of 2D action RPG games that aim to bring back some of the feeling that we had back in the golden age of gaming. Some developers manage to hit that sweet spot and deliver a great experience, but most of them fail, at least on some level. The Albino Hunter seems to be on the winning side, even if the only offers a limited gameplay experience.

I don’t know developers have noticed this, but this kind of games are becoming more and more complicated as time goes on. The devs want to give users, especially to the older ones, something that they can relate to, but they want to get new people on board. Games that we remember to be simple and straightforward are reinvented with a much more complicated gameplay. It’s not a bad thing, but it kind of defeat the purpose of reaching out to melancholic people.

You’re playing a game that’s called “The Albino Hunter” so you know that it’s not going to be your average experience. If you think that the use of the term albino is somehow offensive, then you’re also probably correct, especially if we take a look a the official synopsis.

The developers from Cherry-sama don’t seem to be bothered by the obvious problem with the name and even take pride in it. Given the fact that there are probably very few albinos playing game, either way, no feelings have been hurt.

The players take on the role of Kalymn Nox, who is doing what every character in every game is doing, and that is to take on quests and proceed to solve them. The demo only has a few of these, but it’s a good way to observe just how big the game really is.

The only problem is the fact that you’ll have to download another application to make it work named RPG MAKER VX ACE since the game is built with RPG Maker, but it shouldn’t be a major inconvenience.
