There were many legendary games released over the decades, some of which managed to make history and be forever remembered as pillars of the industry. One of these games is Pong, which is supposedly the ancestor of all video games and one of the first computer programs solely designed for entertainment. Nowadays we have much more advanced games, but it’s also nice to go back to the roots every now and again.

Tetradecagon is a fun arcade game in which your goal is to keep a ball bouncing around for as long as possible inside a polygon. You can only use one side of the polygon to bounce the ball back, and the side changes every time you hit the ball. Thus, it’s quite difficult to rotate the whole thing as quickly as possible in order to keep up with the ball.

Since the gameplay mechanics are so simple, the rules are designed to be incredibly simple as well. Hence, the goal of each level is to survive for a certain number of seconds, after which the speed of the ball increases and the polygon grows another side. As facile as it may sound, this simple formula has the potential to induce quite a few rage fits if you are the angry type.

Naturally, the last thing you want to experience in a game such as this one is input delay or control issues of any kind. Thankfully, there are no such problems, not to mention the fact that you are free to use a keyboard or a controller, depending on what feels natural. Granted, it’s tough to get acquainted with the controls regardless of what you use, since you need some serious play time to get good at it.

As for the graphics, there’s nothing but lines on the screen, which is good because it allows you to concentrate on the gameplay and not be distracted by all sorts of special effects. On the other hand, the color of the polygon and the background changes quite wildly after a few seconds of gameplay, which is pretty exciting.

All things considered, Tetradecagon is quite capable of eating a portion of your spare time, especially if you are up for a challenge. On the other hand, it’s also quite possible for the game to get boring very quickly.
