Terra Lander an arcade game that lets users guide a small ship to the landing pad using only the effect of gravity and a small amount of fuel.

Landing a ship with just a sliver of fuel used to be all the rage a couple of decades back, but that genre of games has been largely absent since then. There have been a few titles that kept the genre alive, but it’s not exactly the overly populated. That means that any new game is welcome to complete the collection of titles that require users to understand how inertia really works.

Developers from DM Media and Dark Computer Entertainment have also used a retro style for their game to ensure that it follows a very clear direction. They are taking aim at users that remember how these games looked and played, so they are probably people how have played this kind of titles themselves.

The basic principle of Terra Lander is pretty simple. Guide the lander to the landing pad using just some thrusters and gravity. It sounds simple enough, until you actually have to do it.

The difficulty of the game is given with a few twist. First of all, anything that you touch with the lander, with the exception of the landing pat itself, will get you killed. Even if there is a surface that looks flat and inviting, it’s still a killer. Secondly, players only have four lives, and they don’t replenish from one level to another. This means that you will have to start from the beginning when you lose all the lives.

Also, there are turrets and various other dangers that are lurking in the level, making Terra Lander a lot more difficult than it would seem.

Even if the game features rather minimalistic graphics, it suits really well to design of the game. The physics engine that guides the lander and everything else in the world is also spot on, which can only be a good thing.

The system requirements for Terra Lander are really low and even if you have a very only computer, you will be able to run it.
