Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire

The game before you, Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire, is in its Alpha stages of development and does have its fair share of glitches and shortcomings. However, the concept and approach to it are rock solid and totally worth looking into.

The first second I laid eyes on Tahira’s wardrobe I couldn't help but think about Avatar: The Last Airbender, more specifically, about Katara and Sokka. The wardrobe choice is way too similar and the approach for graphics engraves the Avatar atmosphere even more so. This is the first great thing about this game, it has a visual core that’s appealing.

Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire is meant to be an episode based turn-based tactics game in which you will be put to face different battle scenarios. Tahira is a young princess who has both her inner battles to fight and those of her people who find themselves at the mercy of dark times, and in front of darker ones to come.

The plot makes sense, it’s not an entirely original approach but the setting, style and delivery do make it stand out.

In this current stage, Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire has a handful of features to showcase and some of them aren’t completely polished. Even so, the animations are smooth and the work on them was not in vain, the look really well and do add flavor to the game.

Combat mechanics are kind of minimal at the time, there seems to be a lot missing but like with everything else, there’s solid ground to work on. Each character has his or her special attack which looks really nice and does manifest in a different way so combat will be anything but tedious.

To wrap it up, Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire has all the right ingredients for a really good title but it’s really far from it. There is a lot missing or it’s halfway through but it will get there with your support.
