System Crash Demo
Fight against mega-corporations in this sci-fi collectible card game with an emphasis on strategy and story. #Card game #Strategy game #Deck builder #Ccg #Strategy #Sci-fi
The fantasy genre is pretty well-established in video games, given the fact that there are so many games featuring elves, orcs and wizards. On the other hand, there are sci-fi productions as well, except that they all seem to go in different directions, or at most borrowing elements from classics like Star Trek and the like. However, there are many other great sci-fi universes out there, including Ridley Scott’s and Philip K. Dick’s Blade Runner.
System Crash is a collectible card game in which you get to use mechs and cyber attacks instead of magic spells and elementals, yet the mechanics are more or less the same as in a fantasy CCG. Thus, your goal is to collect cards and use them to build the desired deck, deck that can be used during missions in order to call various units to your aid and fight the enemy.
As for the story, the game is actually very plot-driven, given the fact that you are basically jumping from one mission to the other in an attempt to help other characters and yourself in the process. The universe in question is inspired by titles like Neuromancer and Blade Runner, so the plot features classic concepts like mega-corporations that control humanity, powerful AIs, and various mechs that can be used as personal defense units.
The combat takes place in phases, although it’s more or less the same as in most CCGs out there. Thus, you draw a couple of cards from your deck in the beginning and you must play them as wisely as possible over the course of the battle. The goal is to reach your objective points quota, and in order to do that you have to deal damage to your enemy. Everything takes place in turns, so there’s plenty of time to analyze every move and decide what’s your best strategy.
More cards can be unlocked as you make your way through the main campaign, which keeps you playing and prevents you from getting bored. On the other hand, the actual gameplay stays the same, so you really have to enjoy collecting things in order to stay positive about the game. Granted, the story is pretty intriguing on its own, so it might just be enough to distract you from the repetitive combat events.
At the end of the day, System Crash is both fun and challenging, which is the goal of every collectible card game out there. Hence, if you enjoy sci-fi stories and like to collect things, this may very well keep you busy for a while, especially since more expansion packs are planned in the future.
